It’s an approach that consultants and analysts can take when they want to go beyond delivering graphs and charts to their stakeholders. By thinking like a storyteller, you can build context, create empathy and deepen the meaning of your narrative.

Our data storytelling workshops help you distill complex ideas into clear, comprehensible narratives. We don’t teach you templates. Instead, we introduce you to a methodological design process, as well as a series of exercises that you and your team can use each time you develop a new narrative. We’ll guide you to apply these ideas to your real work, so you can experiment with new ways to make your message resonate.

You’ll get tools and resources. You’ll understand the basic building blocks of effective communication. You’ll get plenty of hands-on practice.   • This workshop is delivered in person to consultants and analyst teams all over the world. There are one-day and two-day versions of the workshops.

    There are two goals for this workshop. One is to help you improve 1 or 2 strategic stories that are directly related to your work, so you can learn by doing. The second goal is to give you tangible storytelling tactics, as well as a process for building a compelling story.

Though every session is different, workshops tend to include equal amounts of structured learning, hands-on practice & facilitated conversation.

  • This engaging and interactive workshop will teach you to think of storytelling as the basic building block of human understanding. Rather than teaching you the “right” way to tell a story, in this workshop, you and your team will use storytelling to analyze the psychology, engagement and empathy aspects of how you communicate, through your specific strategic lens.

    By understanding how to apply these two tools, you’ll be able to gradually build up your storytelling skills, on your own, over time. This powerful storytelling workshop will give you the scaffolding you need to become a great business storyteller.

  • Yes!

    Before the session begins, we’ll help you identify one type of “story” for each team member to workshop. For example, organizational stories about products and strategies, shared team stories about case studies and customer successes, or personal stories about your individual values in action.

    The workshop is built around giving you the tools and tactics you need to improve how you deliver these stories. After learning basic storytelling concepts, you will use those tools to analyze the way you’re currently telling your story. You will then work in pairs and small groups to implement what you’ve learned, receive peer coaching and feedback.

  • The goal of this workshop is to teach you the process behind crafting a great story. Focusing on process gives us the opportunity to teach you and your team to fish. Focusing on process also enables you to receive a more significant outcome than just one well-told story. As you workshop storytelling, you’ll get personalized coaching that will apply broadly to the way you communicate, as well as instructional tools you can use to continue practice once the session is gone.

    The point is to help you become more engaging and authentic in your sales communication. The workshop structure demonstrates this idea, using famous examples, videos and other engaging exercises, making it into a story you’ll keep telling once the day is done.

  • The ideal group size for any storytelling training workshop is between 12-40. The workshop relies heavily on group participation. We like working with groups that are big enough to carry conversation and yet small enough so that everyone’s voice gets heard.

  • Most storytelling training is delivered in person. However, we have made accommodations for remote teams by using video conferencing software like Zoom.

  • The secret to great storytelling is practice. The goal of these workshops is to ritualize the practice behaviors that will help your group slowly develop your storytelling competencies over time. You’ll leave the workshop with plenty of ideas, resources and commitments that will lay the foundation for your growth and give you clear next steps.

    We often treat an initial workshop like a first date. Once we’ve gotten to know each other and experienced the content, we often support clients with further workshops, coaching and consulting on their team or organization’s strategic narratives.
