About This Training

Employer branding has become an essential business need in the Age of Connection. However, most HR departments aren’t empowered with the mandate or skill to effectively tell a story that could make it easier to find and keep great people.

Employer Branding Storytelling Training is designed to help Strategic HR managers and their teams share the stories of their culture and develop metrics that define success.

In this workshop-style training, you’ll learn a storytelling framework which underlies movies and popular culture, as well as professional written and spoken communication, which you can use again and again. Next, you’ll apply what you’ve learned to develop one piece of employer brand messaging. By using design thinking exercises to empathize with your audience, you’ll practice thinking strategically about the message you share. Finally, you’ll test this story directly with your audience, generating valuable feedback that you can immediately apply to future brand communications.

Why Storytelling?

HR managers telling the story of their culture have a tendency to fall back onto empty value statements that don’t resonate with emotional force. In order to convey an organization’s authentic values in a truly differentiated way, you need to craft a strategic narrative that makes sense and feels right to your team, your organization and your investors. By framing your message in terms of story, paying attention to information hierarchy, compelling characters and the emotional rise and fall of hope and fear, you’ll find that you vastly improve your ability to attract great talent by painting a picture of the future that you and your leadership are working to make real.

At a more profound level, the stories we tell often contain limiting ideas that compromise the progress of an individual, team or organization. Telling a new story does more than generate authentic hope and meaning — it can also help you improve the lived culture of the organization. Through the act of Strategic Storytelling, you, your team and your culture can personally can find more meaning and excitement in your work, and translate that excitement into a passion that inspires and compels others.
